No.2 Railway Cottage is a stunning example of a meticulous refurbishment project where the original charm of the 1920s cottage was reimagined for modern living. The transformation began by taking the property back to its bare bones—leaving only the original front wall intact. From there, we rebuilt the home entirely, doubling its footprint with a new extension that blends seamlessly with the character of the original structure.

The project involved raising the floor, a complete rewire and re-plumb, and comprehensive groundworks. Bricklaying and block work formed the backbone of the extension, while carpentry, plumbing, and electrical installations followed to create a space that is both functional and elegant.

In keeping with our hands-on approach, we managed the entire project through direct labour, without engaging a contractor. With Peter’s 20+ years of experience in construction—including his time as a foreman on large-scale projects—we oversaw every trade, ensuring each phase was executed to the highest standard. We leveraged Peter’s extensive network of trusted tradespeople and suppliers, running mini tenders for every job to guarantee efficient costs and outstanding quality.
